THE THYMUS IS IMPORTANT IN THE NORMAL DEVELOPMENT AND CONTROL OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEM.

IT PRODUCES A NUMBER OF POLYPEPTIDE HORMONES, THE THYMOSINS.  THESE HORMONES REGULATE THE DEVELOPMENT AND FUNCTIONING OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEM.
